I'm pleased to be able to post again about Citizenchip, the movie production that I have been involved with over these past months during and since lockdown.
Principal shooting is now over, and its been a fun and educational journey, working with a great team of cast and crew, and many friends made along the way.

A little more content from my current work on the film 'Citizenchip', currently in production from Brave Art Cinema Productions. We are heading towards our final filming dates now, and it has been great fun and a privilege to be a part of such a creative team.
Character photos with the lovely Kelsea Jo Brooke.
The latest creation from the talent that is Rag and Bone, the Jabberwock roamed the town and delighted the folk with its antics before returning to its lair.

Lovely to be working with such a friendly, creative and talented team, all still a bit hush at this point.
Finally 'finished' rigging out my main camera setup.. probably. .
This suits my run and gun mobile style perfectly, at the moment.

Sheep Day makes perfect sense, as the name 'Skipton' means 'Sheep Town' in a northern dialect. As well as a mini music festival, there was the usual collection of interesting and varied local traders, walkabout artists and performers, and more. The “Sheep Show” was back back with its both hilarious and informative stage show about sheep and wool, and there were a variety of animals to see and pet, irds of prey; and donkey rides.
Sheep Day also coincided with Armed Forces Day, including a display by the 5th Regiment Royal Artillery – The Yorkshire Gunnerss, with military vehicles; deactivated artillery. The day ended with the flag lowering ceremony.

The last time we had a session was a few years ago, on a trip to a beach on the west coast, and it was great to see Harry as fit as ever, and full of character.
Animals are all unique, personality wise., which is why I spend time getting to know them and to try to capture that personality during my sessions. I specialise in non-posed, on location dog photography. Harry took me around some of his favourite places, and we bumped into a few of his favourite humans. :)

One of the most beautifully bound and illustrated little books I have ever had the pleasure to hold, it's a Christian History Biography for Children, by author Simonetta Carr. Detailing the life of Anselm of Canterbury, Simonetta wanted to use a photo of mine of the re-enactment of the Battle of Hastings taken several years ago. The global reach of the internet never fails to amaze me - but then I am old enough to use computers well before 'the web', you know.. :-)

Our favorite wedding at Todmorden Town Hall in 2013 has to be the relaxed and fun special day of Sara & Andy. We must have set some kind of record for the number of people packed into a group photo (100+) in the imposing and elegant entrance hall. Bouquet and floral decorations were provided by the wonderful Firenza Floral Design, and Sara's amazing hat was made by Heather Wilson.

A celebration of diversity and creativity, it is a coming together of a wide range of service organisations, community groups and others, with one aim: to put on a show for - and involving - the people of Manchester.
I was commissioned to cover one of the largest sections of the parade by local Calderdale creative company Thingumajig Theatre. They were responsible for designing, building, coordinating and leading the various groups involved in the Wythenshawe section of the parade.
The glorious hot weather added to the sunny disposition of the parade participants and the crowds making it a spectacular parade.

Since my last real involvement as Press Officer/Photographer with the inaugural Hebden Blues in 2011, the festival has gone from strength, deservedly picking up 'Best Festival' at the British Blues Awards.
Hebden Bridge Blues Festival 2013 had to be the best yet, with a wide range of genres of Blues music spread over two and a half days of musical bliss. Glorious sunny weather helped to create a great atmosphere around Hebden Bridge. The mian stage was at the atmospheric Hope Baptist Church, with two separate Acoustic and Electric floors at Salem Community Centre. As usual a range of pubs in the town played host to free performances each evening.
All the musicians and performances were excellent, and standout performances would be far too many to list here. Worthy of special note however included headliners Jo Harman and Aynsley Lister, Lucy Zirins and Woodenhorse on the acoustic stage, the inimitable Rabbitfoot, stomping Northsyde, those crazy Americans Paul Lamb and the Detroit Breakdown, Kyla Brox and new find local songstress Terry Logan.
The late night Paddy Maguire Jam Sessions (featuring many of each days artists) had to be seen and heard to be believed. There were literally tears in the aisles when it all came to an emotional end on Sunday night.
Full details of the festival can be found on the website at http://yorkshirebluesfestival.co.uk/

Believed to have originally been one of the Abbey support buildings, possibly a place for visitors to stay, it was later used as a farm building and then became derelict until the 19th century when it was renovated by the Yorkshire Philosophical Society. Now managed by the York Museum Trust, it underwent major renovations in 2008, bringing it into use as a high quality wedding and hospitality venue.
A lovely elegant wedding we covered in 2012 at The Hospitium was the special day of Rosemary and Bill.

It is completely understandable that the Burlesque Festival should provoke some comment from some in the local community, with protest in the form of the banner shown below and discussions on our esteemed internet presence Hebweb. I personally can understand both sides of the argument, but as always come down on the side of freedom of expression, tolerance, and celebration and defence of the alternative.
Some of the things that Hebden Bridge and it's community generally do and are well known for...
- Craig, bluplanetphoto
One of these, not very far out of Leeds, is at Thornfield House, in Morley. Built sometime before 1866 as a private dwelling, the house became the home of Integrity Masonic Lodge in 1920.
Our favourite wedding at Thornfield House in 2012 were the fun and funky Erica and Steve, who held there service, wedding breakfast and evening celebrations. There are fantastic views from Thornfield across the Pennines to Emley Moor in the distance, and a spacious enclosed lawn. Unfortunatley the wet November weather didn't allow us to play outside much, though Erica and Steve didn't let the wet weather interrupt their celebrations at all.

The Mill and its surrounding area known as Hardcastle Crags, is managed by the National Trust. Since its opening by Abraham Gibson in 1800, the mill has seen a lot of changes, but it has been restored to its former glory, including environmentally friendly additions including its own water and solar power regeneration and composting toilets!.
Our favourite wedding at Gibson Mill in 2011 had to be the big day or Rachel & Andy, who arranged vintage buses, a walk in the woods, and traditional pop and ice cream for everyone, before retiring to Heptonstall Bowling Club for a fantastic party to end the day.
]]>
One of our fave weddings there in 2012 had to be Rebecca & Simon getting married, a really fun couple and a lovely day.
The newly extended and modernised town hall in Hebden Bridge is no exception, and provides a wonderful venue for any celebration or event. Few wedding venues can really claim to be so modern and at the same time so old and full of history, as our Town Hall. The Town Hall building was acquired by a community association in 2010, with one of its main aims to responsibly develop and promote the building on behalf of the local community.
Hebden Bridge has a reputation for its diverse, welcoming and all inclusive community, and we are very happy to have photographed many civil services in the area - love knows no boundaries, and celebration of it should not either.
One of our lovely and very cool civil partnership couples in 2012 was Anna and Rebecca.

]]>As well as the stunning baroque-style interior of the Hall itself, the park provides some fantastic locations for both group and bride & groom photos, and includes a boating lake, an adventure playground for kids (big and small) and the impressive Mughal Gardens.
Having grown up in the area, one of our couples Sharon and Tony were very keen to host their wedding ceremony at Cartwright, followed by lots of photos around the park, and on such a (mostly) sunny and happy day, we were very happy to oblige.

Fork Handles are Phil Hunter on Guitar, Mick Driver on Bass, new boy to the group Matt Renshaw on Drums, all ably led -some would say 'bossed about' - by Gina Gleeson on lead vocals. Thanks to good photography buddy Andy Spencer for the transport, advice on the course and general bike-related advice. Congratulations to the organisers, a brilliant event. Same time next year!

We still offer the same professional, fun and relaxed photography, but due to demand we are now able to offer two distinct packages, designed to suit any budget.
Any wedding package booked with us by the end of April 2013 includes a free engagement photo session.
We also offer a range of 'add on' services if you require them. These include
We offer wedding photography services throughout West Yorkshire. We are able to offer coverage outside this area, based on additional mileage/expenses charges.
]]>Too many people to mention, but we would like to thank all our clients, businesses and other organisations we have worked with, fellow photographers we have collaborated and worked with, and many others - for helping to make 2012 such an interesting and successful year.
It has also been a year of highs and lows for our local area, with repeated bad weather bringing floods which affected local businesses and homes, along with national media attention (both good and bad) and even a visit from Royalty.
After the bad news came the positive, really showing what people pulling together can do. Much was done by so many people to help others through the challenges the floods brought. Valley of Lights and the HebdenSpirit Art Auction stand out for us in particular as examples of what a wonderful local community spirit we have in the Calder Valley.
Heres looking forward to the new people and new challenges that 2013 brings. Have a safe and happy new Year, and see you on the other side...

A great night at the Hebden Bridge Trades Club last night, with a fantastic atmosphere and terrific performances from some very talented young musicians. Congratulations to Billy Painter and others who made this happen.

The bout between local lovelies the Bruising Banditas and the Whippin Hinnies from Newcastle seemed like a very hotly contested match (at least from my amateur viewpoint) though in the end the result went against the home team, going 195-86 to the Hinnies. All the officials were very friendly and helpful with advice about the sport, I was also very impressed how good natured the opposing teams were at the end. There was great camaraderie between all the players before and after the bout. You are a credit to your sport, ladies.
A selection of my fave photos from the match below, with the full gallery here

Also on Saturday afternoon and late into the night was the much awaited Floodstock charity fundraiser concert, organised and sponsored by Slightly Foxed Brewery. Various bands and others gave their time for free on behalf of those affected by recent floods in the local area. Among those playing were (in no special order) Hooson, Stations, Eastwood Station, the Paddy Maguire band, Rabbit Foot, Tom Attah and T.J. Norton. The evening was brought to a close with Paddy Maguire's famous Jam Sessions, with the great music playing way past midnight. A great event for a great cause, with proceeds to the Community Fund for Calderdale.

We had a great time taking photos not only for the mainstream Arts Festival, but also for the festival Fringe, an offshoot of the main schedule of varied free (or low cost) events, from poetry and music, to dance workshops, cabaret shows, and closed with a spectacular belly dancing party.

Blu Planet are honoured to have been asked to help with official photographic coverage of the event, in conjunction with another talented local photographer Sarah Mason. The full program for HBAF can be found at the main website at www.hbaf.co.uk/
Also to be overlooked is the Arts Festival Fringe, a collection of fun and funky events running in parallel with the main festival program. Ranging from free to £5, you can view the Fringe events listing at http://hbaf.co.uk/fringe/
The Arts Festival has an unintended special significance this year, being staged in the aftermath of major local flooding which caused disruption and great financial loss to many local residents and businesses. The previous weekends flooding also disrupted the annual local Handmade Parade and this will also run on 30th June, along with the regular Mytholmroyd Gala.
Congratulations to the various organisers of all these events on pulling together to make all these worthy events happen, and a celebration of local ingenuity and tenacity.

A varied collection of musicians, bands and entertainers gave their time for free to perform, with all donations going towards upgrading the PA system. Performers included old faces and new, some having played since the early days of the club, with others representing the new wave of musicians.
Bands and musicians appearing over the two day event included (in no particular order) Fez, Maia the Band, Creedy, Gary Boyle & Roger Higgins, Will Kaufman, and Brouhaha. The live performances were closed by long time local Ska band Owter Zeds, who brought the place to their feet. On both nights the celebrations went late into the evening with music from a range of DJ's.

With a holiday theme, and put together by the wonderful friends and family of Anon, the show was a roaring success. A special appearance was even put in by the King himself, with Elvis both looking and sounding fantastic for his age (and rumoured passing in 1977.)
Fashions included products sold by Anon Lingerie, Sage & Onion and original designs by Zoe Reagan.
Last year, Blu Planet Photo organised and shot photos of several of Anon Lingerie customers and friends, with their photos featuring in the window display in Elland. Earlier on the day of the Fashion Show, another photoshoot was staged, and photos of these new brave souls in their underwear will be appearing later in the year. Watch out for that, residents and visitors to Elland!. :-)

After a speedy but sophisticated and emotional service at Stockport Registry Office, the celebrations moved to Hyde Bank Farm, a beautifully restored 17th Century venue . The staff at the Farm were very friendly, making everyone feel very at home. The celebrations were helped along with some really fun loving family, friends and wedding guests, which went on into the small hours.

Weddings days are always full of love, goodwill and happiness as you would expect, but this was one of the special ones. This was also our first time attending a Quaker wedding service, and we have never been made to feel more welcome and a part of the celebrations. You could almost feel the happiness in the air all day, and the entire day was staged by family, friends and community pulling together, to make such a wonderful day.
